Welcome to Little Seedling Homestead!

Welcome to the Hooked on the Homestead Blog where I share crochet and crafting creations inspired by and made for homestead aesthetic lovers like me! As someone who loves everything plants, garden, crochet, and crafting related, it’s no surprise that most of my crochet projects and patterns end up using rustic, earthy tones and soothing palettes of green! We also love black cats around here, granny squares, and diving into random crafty things. If that’s your vibe, welcome! Follow along with us on our other socials for an exclusive glimpse into the process of creating crochet patterns, raising a family of 5 cats, and all the crafty things we get into!

Behind Little Seedling Homestead

Growing up in the suburbs of the city, I never really felt connected to nature until adulthood when I fell in love with the idea of self sustainability, growing our own food, and essentially one day creating a homestead wherever we ended up. It wasn’t until becoming chronically ill in my early 20’s and unable to enjoy the outdoors as much, that I started to shift to learning new skills; like how to crochet, cook, bake, preserve or grow food, and restore our new home and instantly fell in love! It gave me the outlet I needed to calm my nerves and focus on slowing down to listen to my body and heal while also still being able to be creative and immerse myself in art.

I “turned my waiting room into a classroom” as some would say, and taught myself several different crafts, did endless research on how to more easily grow food, and slowly I started to come back to life! And then came along the star of the show, our black cat Sage and her 4 kittens Archie, Cleo, Clover, and Juniper ♥ These five precious kitties gave us even more purpose, and we love to share snippets of their journey with us as well!

Starting An Online Business

After experiencing these health issues it became very obvious to me that the future is never certain. My ability to work may change in the future and I wanted to try to come up with some ways I can take the financial burden off my amazing partner! I felt such a calling to the crochet and gardening community, and after a few silly videos of crochet projects and our 5 black kittens, Little Seedling Homestead was born! Speaking of, you’ll definitely be seeing a LOT of the voids (our 5 black cats) whom we rescued in 2024. They were a huge inspiration for me starting my TikTok and Instagram journey; it started off as me wanting to share cute videos of the kittens and has now turned into an entire online community!
